Isfahan
Esfehan, Iran’s third largest city, is in the central part of Iran enjoying a temperate climate.
World famous, Esfehan is of great antiquity, and has numerous monuments, registered by UNESCO as historical. Each year, it attracts a good number of tourists from around the world. Literally, Esfehan grew into its zenith of glory in the reign of the first Shah Abbass (the 11th century AD). As the capital, the city owned a lot of eye-catching buildings and monuments as we can observe:
Naghsh-e-Jahan Square; Chahar Bagh Avenue; Madraseh-ye-Chahar Bagh; Bazaar and Qaisarieh Portal; Bazaar-e-Honar; Friday mosque; Sheikh Lutfollah Mosque; Emam Mosque; the Chehel Sotoon Palace; the Ali Qapu Palace; the Hasht Behesht Palace; Menar Jonban; Atashgah; Pol-e-Shahrestan; Si-o-Se Pol; the Khaju Bridge and Vank Cathedral.
Interestingly, there is an increasing number of renowned cities set as Esfehan’s step-sisters. So far, the cities are:
