Mashhad
This City is not very old , but Nughan and Sanabad have more historical precedence. This city was named Mashhad due to the martyrdom of Hazrat-e-Emam Reza (in Persian Mashhad means place of martyrdom) 203 A.H.(817A.D.)
Astan-e-Qods-e-Razavi is the greatest and most splendid sacred place in Iran Where the Holy Shrine o Emam Reza is located, Which presents one the most magnificent arts and architectures. Astan-e-Qods Museum Qoran (Koran) Museum, Stamp Museum Malek Abad Garden Museum, Mellat Park, Kuhsangi, Vakil Abad, Torqabeh , Band-e-Golestan, Shandiz, Ghar-e-Moghan (Moghan Cave) Mausoleum of Nadir and the Museum, Cheshmeh Gilas (Gilas spring) etc. are of Mashhad’s places of interest.
There are trade centers, bazaars and arcades in central part of the city. One of the great shopping centers is New Bazar of Reza, In which different kind of handicraft and production of Khorasan are found, Such as: turquoise ring, gold, Perfume, Saffron, candy, fur and shoes etc.
Also Zist Khavar Trade Complex on Dr .Shariati St. Which is one of the most important trade centers in east of Iran.
